Gold Arrow Requirements
   
World Scout Badge | Bronze Arrow | Silver Arrow | Gold Arrow | Akela's Award | Proficiency Badges| Placement of Badges
  Scouting Skills (Complete any 2)
  • Use a map to plan a journey or hike
  • Light a fire outdoors and boil water with it
  • Learn 3 new knots and use them in an activity
  • Use a compass and one other method to find North
  • Plan and take part in a hike
  • Build a simple outdoor shelter
  • Camp in a tent for at least 1 night
  • Design and make at least 2 camp gadgets
 
 
 
  Health and Fitness
  • Choose 1 sports or hobbies and tell the Scout Leader what you had done recently to improve or develop the sport or hobby
  • Try 1 new sport or hobby
 
 
 
  Helping Others (Complete any 1)
  • Show how to stop bleeding by direct pressure and 2 uses of triangular bandage
  • Know at least 3 water safety rules and how to help someone who has fallen into water
  • Discuss with the Scout Leader on what you can do to prevent crime and accidents in the home and know what to do in cases of emergencies at home
  • Lead the troop to do a good turn
  • Help the Scout Leader to run the troop for at least 4 weeks
 
 
 
  Responsibility (Complete any 1)
  • Name at least 2 good habits on personal hygiene and cleanliness
  • Show how you keep yourself fit and what bad habits can damage your health
  • Name at least 2 types of foods that are good for you and the dangers of a poor diet
  • Identify 10 traffic signs correctly and either show how to cycle safely or how to behave safely as a car passenger
 
 
 
  Natural World (Complete any 1)
  • Set up a weather station with at least 3 different instruments and use it to record the weather for 2 weeks
  • Help an adult with the routine maintenance of a bicycle, car, boat or other machinery
  • Build a model using a technical construction kit and explain how the model works
  • Show you can use a computer, video camera, electronic keyboard or other piece of technical equipment, and that you know how to work its main features
  • Take an active part in a hedge, pond or stream survey
  • Take an active part in a project that helps improve the environment
  • Find out and display some information about the habitat and special needs of an endangered species
  • Make a bird feeder or table and feed the birds regularly with suitable foods or make a shelter for an animal and feed it with suitable food
  • Improve and maintain a part of a garden or other piece of land
 
 
 
  Creative Expression (Complete any 1)
  • Contribute to and take part in a campfire skit
  • Take part in a performance by singing, playing a musical instrument or dancing
  • Contribute to, or take part in a puppet show
  • Contribute a story, poem, report or picture to the Cadet Scout website
  • Paint or draw some pictures or create a comic strip or series of cartoons
  • Create an album of photographs or a slideshow of digital pictures or contribute to a video clip or film and show it to others
  • Make something using a craft method which is new to you, or make a model or kit to a good standard
  • Take part in any other form of entertainment or handicraft as agreed with your Scout Leader
 
 
 
  Home and Community (Complete any 1)
  • Do something to help a local hospital, place of worship, nursing home or children's home or the disabled
  • Help plan and take part in a project to improve the surroundings in your area
  • Take part in a local activity or event organized by a group outside Scouting
  • Meet or visit someone in your area who helps the community and discuss with your Scout Leader regarding their contributions to the community
  • Find out something about a local or national charity and think up ideas of how you can help them. Discuss with your Scout Leader your ideas and suggestions
 
 
 
  Singapore and the World (Complete any 1)
  • Help organize a troop meeting to show what life is like in another country
  • Find out about an organization that helps people in other countries and list at least 2 contributions this organization has provided
  • Find out about scouting in other countries and make contact with at least 2 scouts from abroad
  • Participate in JOTA/JOTI
  • Find out something about the traditions, customs and religions of a culture other than your own
 
 
 
  Promise and Law
  • Make out a prayer or reflection about a troop meeting in which you are taking part and share with others, or contribute and take part in Scout's Own service
  • Discuss with the Scout Leader how you have tried to put the Scout Law and Promise into practice in everything you had done
 
 
 
  Scouting Family
  • Find out and discuss with your Scout Leader how the Patrol System works in the Scout Unit and how you can gain 1 of the Scout Progress Badges
  • Take part in an activity with some Scouts
 
 
 
  All Rounder
  • Complete any 2 more activities from the above sections
  • Attain any 2 proficiency badges of your choice
