Silver Arrow Requirements
   
World Scout Badge | Bronze Arrow | Silver Arrow | Gold Arrow | Akela's Award | Proficiency Badges| Placement of Badges
  Scouting Skills (Complete any 2)
  • Know at least 8 map symbols. Be able to locate them in a map
  • Cook an egg, sausage etc with an open fire
  • Tie at least 2 knots and use them in a game
  • Know 8 points of the compass and use them in a game
  • Go for a hike and know what to wear and take with you
  • Build a model using sticks, elastic bands and string
  • Pitch a tent and know how to take care of it
 
 
 
  Health and Fitness
  • Show sportsmanship in all games and activities and know why this is important
 
 
 
  Helping Others (Complete any 1)
  • Show how to apply antiseptic cream on a simple cut and put on a plaster by yourself. Know how to make a patient comfortable and reassure him
  • Name at least 3 water safety rules. Tell other about it by drawing a poster
  • Know the common causes of accidents at home and how to prevent them. Tell others about it by drawing a poster
  • Carry out a special turn for someone who needs help which involves you in extra time or effort
  • Do something special to help your Scout Leader during troop meeting
 
 
 
  Responsibility
  • Show how to behave as a pedestrian and know how and where to cross the road safely
 
 
 
  Natural World (Complete any 1)
  • Carry out 3 simple science experiments and explain what happens
  • Find out some information about the stars and the planets. Know what is a binoculars and show your Scout Leaders how to use it
  • Grow a plant and know what conditions are needed for plants to grow
  • Keep a weather log for at least 2 weeks and display your findings in a logbook
  • Make a chart displaying something you have found out about the life-cycle and habitat of any bird, animal, fish, insect, tree or plant
 
 
 
  Creative Expression (Complete any 1)
  • Contribute to and take part in a campfire skit
  • Take part in a performance by singing, playing a musical instrument or dancing
  • Contribute to, or take part in a puppet show
  • Contribute a story, poem, report or picture to the Cadet Scout website
  • Paint or draw some pictures or create a comic strip or series of cartoons
  • Create an album of photographs or a slideshow of digital pictures or contribute to a video clip or film and show it to others
  • Make something using a craft method which is new to you, or make a model or kit to a good standard
  • Take part in any other form of entertainment or handicraft as agreed with your Scout Leader
 
 
 
  Home and Community (Complete any 1)
  • Show you know where the main features and landmarks are in your area
  • Help to carry out a survey of your area such as types of transport, buildings or facilities for the elderly, the disabled or children
  • Find out about any person or event, past or present, for which your area is well know for
  • Go on a trip with an adult using at least 2 modes of local transport. Obtain a timetable from either a bus, train, ferry or airport terminal and show your Scout Leader
  • Take part in a visit to a local place of interest and find out how it serves the community
  • Visit your neighbour or someone who lives or works in your area and find out what he or she does to help the community
 
 
 
  Singapore and the World (Complete any 1)
  • Find out something about customs, traditions or crafts that are special to your area, religion or culture and share it with the troop
  • Sing the National Anthem and recite the Pledge
  • Know the National Flag and Scout Flag and how to prepare it for flag break. Know the stories of the Nation's founders
  • Find out about an organization that helps those in need in Singapore and do something to support it. Discuss what you did with the Scout Leader
 
 
 
  Promise and Law
  • Discuss with the Scout Leader how you have tried to put the Scout Law into practice in everything you had done
  • Take part in a Scout's Own service
 
 
 
  Scouting Family
  • Find out what types of activities the Scout section do and know at least 2 badges and awards
  • Take part in a district or area event or a combined activity with Scouts or Extension Scouts
